Teachers of the Month

Ms. Turbeville teaches computer skills at Lee Intermediate.  She has been teaching for 14 years.  Her hobbies are spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, crocheting, sewing, working the yard, sherenschnitte (paper cutting), hiking, and singing.  She was a soloist for her church choir.  She has 3 children.  Joe-37,  Scott-34, and Tara-28.  She has 7 grandchildren,Tyler-12, Hunter-9, Walker-5, Kinzy-9, Tileigh-6, Logan-3, and Blair who was just born on April 28.  Ms. Turbeville is also currently employed as a Massage Therapist and has been for 18 years.  Before that she owned and operated The Dance Studio and taught tap, ballet, and jazz for 13 years.  She has also been an aerobics instructor and a weight trainer.  She graduated from GHS, and NTSU with a degree in secondary ed. with a dance major and English minor.  She also took post graduate courses in Dance Education at TWU.

 

Miss Webb teaches 5th grade Reading/Language Arts at Lee Intermediate.  This is her first year of teaching but before that she was an aide at Lee for 1 year.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and especially her neice Haley and nephew Tyler.  She also loves playing softball, and anything outdoors.  She enjoys participating in 5K walks, especially if her dog Abbey can go with her.  Miss Webb graduated from GHS, NCTC, and TWU.  Her dog, Abbey, is her only “child”.  She is a member of St. Mary’s church and loves teaching at Lee because the teachers and other staff have made her first year of teaching wonderful.

 

Mrs. Haberman is the art teacher at Lee and at Jr.High.  This is her first year of teaching.  She loves to draw, paint, do crafts, sew, pretty much anything she can make or decorate.  She loves going to movies and playing board games.  She also sells “Scentsy” on the side, and does charcoal portraits, and paints wall murals as side jobs.  She and her husband Jordan married in October and are now expecting their first child next November.  Mrs. Haberman graduated from Abilene Christian University in 2006 with a bachelors degree in Art.  She has a four year old boxer named Chloe.

Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients Honored

Lee Intermediate School hosted the Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients on Friday April 4.  Recipients and other veterans, as well as active military members, were honored with musical selections from the Lee Intermediate Band, led by director Kristi Moore, the Lee choir, led by director Cindy Martin, and music by Lori Hart and Cindy Martin.  Drew Dix was honored with a portrait, drawn by Lee teacher Kerry Proffitt, to be hung on the Wall of Honor at Lee.  Other portraits on the wall include David McNerney, and  Doc Ballard. 

The Medal of Honor Host City Program was presented a check from the students at Lee for $336.00.  Students raised the money through a campaign called “Pennies for Patriots”  where they bring their pennies, loose change, etc.  They collected the amount in only 2 weeks.  A reception for the men followed in the library.
