  • Board of Trustees Filing Dates Announced

    GISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTION: MAY 5, 2018 GISD will have two places up for election. Each place is a three-year term. Place 4 – Mike Schmitz Place 5 – Doug Wade First Day to File– January 17, 2018 Deadline to File – February 16, 2018 5:00PM Packets will be available for pick up beginning Monday, January 8 at the Administration building located at 800 S. Morris St.

  • GISD Earns Superior Financial Rating

    GISD received a rating of “A” (Superior) on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) on the 2016-17 ratings based on school year 2015-16 data. Superior Achievement is the state’s highest rating, and within that scale GISD received a perfect score of 100, demonstrating the quality of GISD’s financial management and reporting system.

  • December Employee Recognition

    The GISD December Teacher of the Month is Jamie Blumberg. Jamie has been a teacher at Edison Elementary for 10 years. She has taught both kindergarten and first grade throughout this time. Currently, Jamie is a kindergarten teacher in the dual language program. She not only positively impacts her students each and every day, but serves as a mentor and role model for her fellow teachers.The GISD December Employee of the Month is Traci Skinner. Traci is the nurse at Lee Intermediate and has been with the district for 18 years. Traci offers so much more to Lee and to GISD than nursing. She helps the staff and students at Lee physically, emotionally, and socially with her various roles on campus.

  • Education Foundation Prize Patrol Awards Grants

    This year, an incredible 19 grants were awarded for a combined total of $22,921, which is the most the Education Foundation has granted in one year. Since 2003, the Education Foundation has awarded more than $280,000 to GISD classrooms to expand the educational opportunities of students.

  • Launching Student Success through Leadership Development

    GISD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Brasher has initiated the formation of a Student Advisory Council. Students from Lee Intermediate, GJHS, and GHS were selected by their Principals to serve on the committee based on their leadership within organizations on their respective campuses. Read more...

  • Alumni Association Hall of Fame

    The 2017 Hall of Fame Educator inductees are: V.S. Payne, Susie Rouw, and Marcia Schmitz. The 2017 Hall of Fame Alumni inductees are: Phil Adams (Class of ‘64), Mack Barnhart (Class of ‘56), Jane Clayton Hickerson (Class of ‘72), and Jack Mahan (Class of 1916).   • Learning Ladder Earns Rising Star

    Congratulations to the Lil Leopards Learning Ladder daycare, located inside Edison Elementary. Under the new ownership of Kitie Hermes and Director Sheila Smith, the facility applied for Texas Rising Star provider status and not only achieved it, but was given a 4 Star Texas Rising Star Status, which is a state accreditation for their program.

  • GISD Earns Six Campus Distinctions

    Gainesville ISD earned six individual campus academic distinctions in the 2017 Accountability ratings. School districts and their campuses are evaluated on four criteria: student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps and postsecondary reading level.
