    GISD educators have said that the second reason they remain is because of professional development opportunities.

    Through a variety of recent levers for change through Empowering Educators to Excel and Capturing Kids’ Hearts in every one of our schools, our educators are gaining the support and professional growth they need to make a difference in students’ lives. Here are a few examples:

    • In each school, there is an instructional leadership team (ILT) made of the principal, assistant principal, lead teachers and other educators who work together weekly to move on their most important priorities.
    • Through the Supporting Teacher Effectiveness Project (STEP), a PLC model, teachers are empowered to identify bright spots—what’s working—and find ways to replicate them across their schools.
    • Through instructional coaching from your principal, instructional coaches or your peers, receive meaningful and timely feedback to help you grow and make change.
