Literacy is our system of communication comprising speaking, listening, reading, thinking, and writing. All components are integrated into classroom experiences allowing students opportunities to talk, read, and write in ways they use language both inside and outside of the classroom. Because each component is interrelated, students are given the opportunity to practice the strands of literacy in balanced, connected, and purposeful ways.
