My name is Kelly Stogner. I am the Visual Arts teacher at Gainesville Intermediate School. I am a 1988 Gainesville High School alumna. I received my Associates of Science degree from NCTC and my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Charter Oak State College. I hold the following teaching certifications: Generalist EC - 4, Art EC - 12, English as a Second Language EC - 12, and Gifted & Talented EC - 12.
I have been teaching art at Gainesville Intermediate since 2018. Before that, I taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade. This is my 21st year teaching, and I have spent all of those years here in Gainesville ISD.
I believe fine arts is crucial to a student’s overall learning experience. The fine arts develop higher order and creative thinking skills which students need to be successful in the academic world. In addition, the fine arts provide learners with non-academic benefits as well, such as self-esteem, motivation, creativity, and cultural exposure.
I look forward to working with the students of Gainesville Intermediate this year. We will learn about artists, art history, and art appreciation while exploring the elements and principles of art through hands-on projects.
