Corey Hardin, Board President

Corey Hardin

 

Corey Hardin was raised in Gainesville and went through all levels of GISD. Father of one son, Cailin Hardin, who graduated GHS in 2016. He has two brothers Charles and Donald Hardin, who were also educated at GISD. He served his country by virtue of the United States Army from 1997-2001. Corey graduated from NCTC's nursing program in 2006 and is currently working as a personal trainer, operating primarily out of Bosco's Gym in Gainesville.  He also holds a seat on the Board of Directors for CASA. Corey is a member of Whaley United Methodist Church. "My mission in life is fitness and I hope to be a contributing member of this team of 8 to continue the progress and momentum that is back in the GISD."

Marvin Royal, Vice President

Marvin is a 1992 graduate of GHS.  In his time at GHS, Marvin was active in football, basketball, and baseball. Marvin attended Navarro JC, NCTC (Cooke County College) where he played baseball. Marvin is also a member of Gainesville Kiwanis, and an Abigail Arms/Child Advocacy Center Board member. Marvin is an active NCAA men's college basketball official for the SAC, GAC, Lone Star, American Southwest, and GSOA conferences as well as a member of the North Texas Basketball Officials Association- High School. He has represented NTBOA as an official at the Texas High School Boys State Championships for 6 years. Marvin is also an active high school football official for FWFO. Marvin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication. Marvin and his wife Keli, a GISD teacher, have 2 daughters: Makenli and Malia, who attend Gainesville ISD.

Laura Otts

Laura is a proud graduate of Gainesville High School and Texas A&M University. She and her husband Barry have one son, Jackson, who attends Gainesville High School. Together, she and Barry operate two retail stores in downtown Gainesville. Laura and her family are active members of Hillcrest Church of Christ. She currently serves as Vice-President of the Gainesville Band Boosters Association and has previously served as Chairman of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and as Campaign Chair for Cooke County United Way.

Jennifer Presson

JenniferPresson

Jennifer is a 1991 graduate of Gainesville High School and went on to attend NCTC.  She has been a certified pharmacy tech for 30 years and is employed at Tom Thumb pharmacy. She has lived in Gainesville since 1984 and has been a member of First Baptist Gainesville for over 20 years. She also serves on the Gainesville ISD Education Foundation board. 

Jennifer and her husband Will have been married for 23 years and have three children and three grandchildren, with one on the way. Their children are all Gainesville graduates: Peyton Walterscheid (GHS Class of '09) and husband Keith, Lauren Aston (GHS Class of '09) and husband Cameron (GHS Class '08), and Cason Presson (GHS Class of '11) and wife Kelbie. Jennifer loves traveling and spending time with family.

Nathan Dempsey, Secretary

Nathan grew up in Ennis, Texas, where he graduated from St. John Catholic School. He and his wife Nicole have three sons; Harrison, Jeffrey and Reed. Nathan is an agent team member at Jim Goldsworthy State Farm.

Latecia Hendricks

Latecia Hendricks grew up in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, Florida area where she graduated from Miramar High School in 2004. She received her certification as a Medical Assistant from Sheridan Technical School in Hollywood, Florida in 2007. She moved to Gainesville in 2013 to live closer to family. Latecia graduated from the University of Phoenix with a BS in Public Administration in 2019 and is currently working on her master's degree in public administration. Latecia works for North Central Texas College Foundation as the scholarship coordinator. She serves on the Gainesville Parks and Recreation Board and the Gainesville Parks and Recreation Non-Profit Board. She also volunteers in many different community service projects in and around our city. Latecia has two children attending GISD.

Dan Doss

Dan Doss is the Director of Purchasing at North Central Texas College and he also owns a local construction company. Dan attended Sul Ross State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications in 2003 and a Master of Arts in Technical Theater. Prior to being elected to the Board, Dan was involved on the Parent Advisory Committee and Health Advisory Committee. He also volunteered each year to surprise our elementary students as “The Cat in the Hat” for Dr. Seuss week. An active member of First Baptist Church Gainesville, Dan serves on the Properties Committee, Church Council, and Long-Range Planning Team. In addition, he is on the City of Gainesville Planning and Zoning Commission. Dan and his wife Angela have lived in Gainesville since 2005. They have two children, Daylin and Delaynie.
