Gainesville ISD serves the needs of the students that meet eligibility criteria of a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder. These students are serviced throughout the district in many different settings. Educational plans and services are individualized to meet the needs of each student.
GISD utilizes the Autism Team approach for the evaluation process. Our team members consists of the following Special Education staff:
- Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
- Speech Language Pathologist
- Educational Diagnostician
- Occupational Therapist
The school team members have special training in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The evaluations are scheduled with the parents. Classroom observations, teacher interviews, and any outside reports are important information that is reviewed by the team during the evaluation process.
