Hello! I'm Natalie Dollar and I am fortunate to be the AVID elective teacher for grades 9-12 at Gainesville High School. AVID stands for "Advancement Via Individual Determination" and is a nationwide non-profit program whose mission is to close the opportunity gap, so that all students are prepared for college, careers, and life in general. Some of the key elements taught in AVID are writing, thinking and reading critically, getting and staying organized, and collaborating with peers in student-centered learning environment.

A Gainesville, Texas native and graduate of GHS ('02, Go Leopards!!!) I recently moved back to town to pursue my dream of teaching after spending the last 7 years living, working, and studying in the Netherlands. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Religion from Hendrix College ('06, Conway, Arkansas) and completed a research Master's degree in History of Religions from the University of Amsterdam (2011). I am so excited to back in my hometown and contribute to this amazing community!
