Hello and Welcome!

I'm Ms. Mattes! This is my 2nd year teaching 8th grade science at GJHS! I've always had a passion for science and exploring the world around us. My hope is to bring out the young scientist in everyone this school year. Outside of teaching science, I have many hobbies, including watching hockey, painting, working out, gardening, cooking, and so much more. I have a mini dachshund name Stella and a cat named Nora. This year I started working on my Master’s degree to become a school counselor!

In our class, we have a chameleon named Everest and 2 goldfish named Pebbles and Boulder. We will incorporate learning about these friends into different lessons throughout the year!
