Dear Edison Parents and Staff,

As we approach the one-month mark since Edison Elementary closed due to the discovery of mold, I am pleased to share a positive update including the anticipated return to campus date.

Remediation of the 37 affected classrooms is now complete, and the rebuild process is expected to continue through the middle of this week. Once that phase is finished, new flooring will be installed, with completion anticipated by the beginning of next week.

Following the completion of these stages, Edison custodians, along with custodial staff from across the district, will begin a deep cleaning of the entire building.

If all work continues on schedule, we anticipate returning to regular operations at Edison Elementary on Monday, September 14.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to our Edison administrators, teachers, staff, child nutrition team, custodians, parents, and, most importantly, our students for their flexibility, patience, and resilience throughout this challenging situation. Because of the collective efforts of this entire team, students experienced minimal disruption to their learning and were able to continue their education regardless of location.

We are currently working with TEA to determine if the missed school day will qualify for a waiver.
