Gainesville ISD will be hosting a 2026-2027 registration round up for all new GISD students entering Head Start, Pre-K, or Kindergarten in the Fall. There are four opportunities to complete early registration.  Edison Elementary, located at 1 Edison Drive, will be open for registration on Monday, April 13, 8:30am-5:30pm, Tuesday, April 14, 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday, May 11, 8:30am-5:30pm.  On Wednesday, June 3, the GISD Administration building will be open for registration from 1:30pm-7:30pm.

Parents of students who will be 3, 4 or 5 years of age before September 1, 2026 are encouraged to attend.  Kindergarten is open to any student who will be 5 years of age on September 1, 2026.  Pre-K and Head Start students must qualify for the program. Pre-K is open to qualifying students who are 4 years of age on September 1, 2026 and Head Start is open to qualifying 3- and 4-year-old students. Qualifying factors vary for each program, so parents are encouraged to attend to determine if their student meets eligibility requirements.  

During the round-up event, office staff will be available to answer any enrollment eligibility questions, assist with online registration, and to accept enrollment documentation. Documentation requirements include:  parent identification, child’s social security card, birth certificate, proof of residency, immunization record, and proof of income (Pre-K/Head Start only).
