GISD Announces New Principal of Gainesville Head Start
Ms. Tara Crockett has been named the Gainesville Head Start Principal beginning January 2025.
Tara has been an elementary Assistant Principal in GISD for the past three and a half years, while dedicating a year to GISD as an instructional coach for one year prior. Before coming to GISD in 2021, she served as Principal at Midland ISD for four years and another two as an Assistant Principal. All of her classroom teaching experience is at the elementary level. Tara received her Master’s of Education in Administration in 2009 and a Doctorate of Education Leadership in 2017.
“I am super excited and honored to be the next Head Start Principal. My goal is to get to know every family and work with families and the community to help all students be successful. I look forward to meeting everyone and carrying on great traditions that have already been established at Gainesville Head Start and I am excited to continue serving students in GISD!”
Tara will be working with current principal April Waggoner until her retirement in December. April served as the Gainesville Head Start Principal for fourteen years and has been in education for a total of 35 years. She is looking forward to traveling with her husband.
