General Information regarding Abbott Labs BinaxNOW testing:

    • GISD has been allotted testing that will allow us to test symptomatic staff and symptomatic students who are being instructed face to face.
    • Our campus nurses will conduct the testing.
    • All nurses administering the tests are certified test administrators.
    • This is an Antigen test with a 97 – 98% accuracy rate. This is not the PCR test (brain stick) even though it requires a nasal swab. This test is looking for the protein that connects with the virus. This test determines if you have had COVID, positive or asymptomatic.
    • The results will be read within 15 minutes of the test administration and reported through a secure website.
    • The results will be sent to the email and text of the phone number reported during the registration process.
    • GISD will notify our local health department of results of positives (Contract Tracing) as well as Texas Education Agency & Texas Department of Emergency Management.
