GISD Announces New Director of Maintenance & Operations

For the past several months, Gainesville ISD has been searching for a qualified Director of Maintenance & Operations, following the retirement of Carey Jenkins in April.  Jenkins had served in this capacity for the past nine years.

The position has closed after a thorough search for a qualified candidate, and the new Director, Joseph Warren, will assume the role on Monday, July 8.

Warren’s experience in facilities management, construction and design cover a wide array of fields including, but not limited to federal, private sector and local governmental entities will be a tremendous asset to GISD.

“In a time of growth and expansion, I look forward to playing a key role in supporting Dr. Stewart’s vision,” Warren said.  “I will assist in the development of facilities, enabling the district to continue to provide a safe, clean and secure environment for the kids.”

Warren has resigned his post as the Director of Facilities and Maintenance at Liberty Hill ISD in central Texas, where his duties included leadership, budget and managerial support of facilities staff (maintenance, grounds, custodial, HVAC), building construction and renovation of more than one million square feet of district facilities.

His experience spans much farther with that, as the Assistant Director of Facilities at Leander ISD, where he was responsible for maintaining 6.8 million square feet of district facilities and 1,500 acres of grounds.

In addition, Warren is a retired United States Navy Special Operations Diver. He is looking forward to relocating to the north Texas area, which will bring him closer to his five grandchildren.
