GISD Spelling Bee Champion!

GISD Announces Spelling Bee Champion

On January 22, GISD students in 2nd-8th grade participated in the 9th annual GISD District Spelling Bee. All 14 of these students first competed at their individual campus spelling bees, which were part of the Scripps National Spelling Bee contest. The highest performing students from each grade level/campus were invited to compete at the District Bee. Although the District Bee does not determine advancement in the Scripps Bee, it gives GISD an opportunity to recognize the top spellers at each campus and practice for the next level of the Scripps Bee. The Bee Champion was Amira Khan, 7th grade student at Gainesville Junior High.  Also finishing in the top 3 were Avery Crutsinger, 2nd place, and Jackson Otts, 3rd place.
