Gainesville Leopards parents, fans, and community members,
On September 1, 2020, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) released updated COVID-19 risk mitigation guidelines. Given the varying numbers of COVID-19 cases across different areas of the state, and the vast geographic area in the state of Texas, UIL has presented modifications for the 2020-21 school year that reflect the situation at this time. UIL will continue to work with state officials and monitor CDC and other federal guidance to determine any potential modifications that may become necessary.
GISD will take all necessary precautions to prevent any possibility of interruptions in our game schedules. If a spectator does not follow the protocols listed below, GISD administrators will ask the spectator to leave the facility.
The changes below will go into effect immediately and apply to all GISD games for both GJH and GHS. To adhere to the new guidelines, we will be making the following additions to our safety protocols:
All spectators must be seated in the stands at all times. Exceptions to this will be while visiting the concession stand or restroom. Spectators will not be allowed to stand in walkways or along fence lines.
All employees, parents, visitors and students of all ages must wear face coverings or face shields at all times when in an area where UIL activities are being conducted and when not actively practicing or playing in the contest, unless an exception listed below applies. Exceptions to the wearing of face coverings or face shields include:
Any person with a medical condition or disability that prevents wearing a face covering;
While a person is consuming food or drink
We will continue to screen all spectators by taking temperatures at the gate. Anyone with a temperature of 100.0 or greater will not gain admittance into the athletic facility.
As always, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our students, staff, and community safe.
