Gifted & Talented Meeting & Referral Process

GT Parent Meeting

GISD will be hosting a Gifted & Talented informational meeting on Monday, October 26, at 6 PM in the Professional Development room in the GISD administration building (800 S. Morris St.).

Parents who would like to know more about the GT program are invited to attend. Paperwork will be provided for parents to complete if they want to nominate their child for GT testing. 

 
For parents who cannot attend face-to-face, there will be information on the website, including all necessary paperwork.
 
 

Student Referral Information

Gainesville ISD is accepting referrals from Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 20, for students who may need Gifted/Talented Services for the school year. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of education needs of the student. Anyone wishing to refer a student attending Gainesville ISD in first through twelfth grade this year is asked to complete the nomination/referral form (attached or available at each campus).
 
This form must be returned to one of the following people by November 20, 2020:
Edison-Jill Linnell, Chalmers-Michelle McDonald or Lori Nixon, Lee-Kara Coberley or Kelly Stogner, GJHS-Clark Bawcom or Katie Denney, GHS-Nikki Rich, GISD Administration Office-Dee Dosher.
 
Those unable to go by the school should call 940-665-4362 extension 3663 to request a form be sent to them.

El Distrito Escolar de Gainesville está aceptando referencias para estudiantes que puedan necesitar servicios de Gifted/Talented (programa para estudiantes que tengan talentos/inteligencia más alta que sus iguales) para el año escolar. Este programa está diseñado para estudiantes que muestran habilidades intelectuales y habilidades inventivas de nivel extraordinario que normalmente no se sirve en las clases regulares. Los servicios son prestos únicamente cuando hay identificación de necesidades educativas del estudiante. Cualquiera persona que quiera referir a un estudiante en grados de primer hasta el grado duodécimo dentro del Distrito Escolar de Gainesville se le pide que complete la forma de registro que se adjunta o está disponible en cada campus.
 
Esta forma debe devolverse a una de estas personas antes del 20 de noviembre:
