Inclement Weather Update
Update as of 2/18
Gainesville ISD will be closed for the remainder of the week, through Friday, February 19, due to the weather, power, and water issues throughout the area. No classes - either in-person or virtual - will be held during this time.
Please stay safe and warm. We look forward to welcoming students and staff back to school on Monday, February 22.

Attention GISD parents, students, teachers, and community
Due to the unforeseen extended power outages throughout our community, GISD will transition from virtual learning on Tuesday and Wednesday to traditional “snow days”. Students will not be required to do any virtual instruction. In addition, GISD staff will not be required to work on these days.
Another winter storm is expected to arrive late Tuesday and into Wednesday. Therefore, it is unclear as to whether additional snow days, virtual instruction, or regular in-person instruction will take place on Thursday and Friday. We will continue to monitor the conditions and will send another update on Tuesday by 4pm.
A determination will be made at a later date as to whether these missed instruction days will need to be made up on our scheduled bad weather days which are built into our calendar in the spring.

GISD parents and families,
We hope you are enjoying the beautiful snow that we received overnight and will continue to receive throughout the day today. Due to the hazardous road conditions that this could cause over the next few days, we are going to close all campuses on Tuesday and Wednesday and continue virtual learning. On Tuesday, we will communicate further regarding the plan for instruction for Thursday and Friday. As a reminder, Monday is a scheduled student/staff holiday.
Parents and students can expect to receive communication from the teachers within the next day. Teachers and students at GHS, GJH, and Lee will be using Google Classroom and will be following a synchronous instruction schedule. Students must be logged into each period throughout the day.
The elementary campuses will be in an asynchronous format with assignments to complete for each day. Teachers will be utilizing DoJo/Google Classroom/SeeSaw for communication and instruction and will be available to assist students with assignments/questions from 8-9am, 9:30-10:30am, 12:30-1:30pm, and 2:30-3:30pm.
