GISD Earns Superior Financial Rating

Gainesville Independent School District received a rating of “A” (Superior) on the 2020-2021 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) report. Superior Achievement is the state’s highest rating, demonstrating the quality of Gainesville ISD’s financial management and reporting system.

The ratings are based upon analysis of staff and student data reported for the 2019-2020 school year in addition to budgetary and financial data for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The overall district score was 100 out of a possible 100 points. Thank you to Alyce Greer, Director of Finance, and the entire business department for your diligent efforts!

GISD has maintained a superior achievement rating each of the 19 years since the Schools FIRST was implemented. Schools FIRST ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with the Texas school finance system. The rating system is designed to phase in additional indicators each year, and although GISD received a perfect score, the district will continue to strive for better ways to be financially responsible.
