School Board Appreciation

In honor of School Board Appreciation Month, Gainesville ISD joins more than 1,000 school districts across the state in celebrating the countless contributions our school board members make to our students, staff, and our schools. The theme for this year's recognition is "Rising Above."

"I cannot put into words what the members of our School Board mean to me and our GISD family," Dr. Stewart said. "These individuals give their time and resources to ensure that the faculty, staff, and students have everything they need for a conducive teaching and learning environment."

Board members, also called trustees, are a link between the community and classroom. They are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools. The trustees are representatives and advocates who oversee the management of the school district, ensure financial accountability and adopt policies that support the district’s mission and vision.

"The Board members are also highly visible on our campuses. Whether it's dressing up as "Cat in the Hat" or celebrating the successes of our faculty/kids, their presence sends a huge message to our Leopard Nation," Stewart said. "Lastly, these individuals embody the motto 'Every Leopard, Every Day' in all that they do as we continue the work of providing a variety of educational opportunities for ALL learners. Our GISD Board of Trustees ROCKS!!!!!!"
