Mary Flanagan Named Director of Special Education

Mary FlanaganGainesville ISD has hired Mary Flanagan as the new Director of Special Education. She has been a Director of Special Education and central office administrator for 15 years, including rural districts in Texas and New York in addition to the second largest school district in the state of New York. Prior to administration, she served as a special education teacher.

“I am a loyal and motivated member of the school community and have chosen Gainesville ISD because it is an organization that provides a place where individuals can collaborate to create a shared vision of providing quality educational services and support to our children,” Flanagan said. “We can have a voice in the decisions that impact our services and work together with others who have common goals.”

Flanagan is newly married and has a sophomore in high school and a junior in college whom she “supports their commitment to academics as well as competitive and school cheerleading”. 

“I am extremely honored to be part of this wonderful school district and am looking forward to a successful future here!”

Flanagan replaces Brittenie Polk, who leaves GISD after 6 years to transition to Weatherford ISD as the Director of Elementary Education.
