GISD Improves Overall Accountability Rating

The Texas Education Agency has announced the 2022 accountability ratings for districts across the state. This is the first time since 2019 that ratings have been announced.  We are excited to announce that Gainesville ISD has earned an overall rating of 84/B!

The new school rating system began in 2017-2018, at which time GISD received an overall rating of 70/C. The following year, the overall rating improved eight points to 78.  There were no ratings in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“ Four years ago we were a ‘C’ district that was one point away from a ‘D’ rating.  We have raised our overall rating by 14 points and are now a ‘B’ district,” said Dr. Stewart, GISD Superintendent.  

GISD received a “B” rating (82) in Student Achievement. This category measures whether students met expectations on the STAAR test. It also measures graduation rates and how prepared students are for success after high school.

The “B” rating (89) in School Progress shows how students perform over time and how the district's performance compares to other districts with similar economically disadvantaged student populations.

In the third category, Closing the Gaps, GISD received a “C” rating (73).  Closing the Gaps tells well a district is ensuring that all student groups are successful.
