The annual Scripps Spelling Bee was held at W.E. Chalmers Elementary on Tuesday, December 4. Prior to this bee, individual classroom competitions were held and the winner from each class advanced to the campus bee. Congratulations to each student who earned classroom champ and competed at the next level.
Fourth Grade: Jazlyn Austin-Smith won the fourth grade bee by correctly spelling the word ‘pronounce’ in round 9. Third Grade: Tristan Hambley won the third grade bee by correctly spelling the word ‘groan’ in round 6. Second Grade: Maivry Montgomery won the second grade bee by correctly spelling the word ‘creatures’ in round 19. The top spellers from each grade level will represent Chalmers Elementary at the GISD Spelling Bee on January 31, at 9 a.m. at the GISD Administration Building.
