Board Approves 2022-2023 Compensation Plan

The Gainesville ISD teacher and staff compensation package is reviewed annually, and a salary study is conducted by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).  The complete plan is then presented to the Board of Trustees for approval. At the regular board meeting held on June 20, 2022, the GISD Board unanimously approved the recommendation for the 2022-2023 compensation package. The following changes are reflected in the plan:

  • The teacher pay scale has been increased overall by 4%. The new starting pay for a first year teacher has increased from $46,035 to $48,000.  The increase has been applied to each step of the teacher pay scale.
  • The pay scale for bus drivers has also been increased. The beginning salary for a bus driver has changed from $16/hour to $20/hour.  The entire driver scales have been updated to reflect this increase.
  • All returning staff on the Auxiliary, Paraprofessional and Administrative pay scales will see a 4% increase based on the midpoint of the pay scale for each category of worker.

Also, there were increases to several of the annual teaching stipends:

  • $3,000 7 - 12 Science; previously 9-12 composite science only
  • $3,000 7 - 12 Math; previously 9-12 only
  • $2,000 9 - 12 Foreign Language; previously $825
  • $1000 Department Chair/Lead teacher; previously $500
  • $2,000 Self-Contained SPED; *new*

The following teaching stipends will remain the same:

  • $5,000 Bilingual certification
  • $500 PK-12 ESL certification

The following signing bonuses will remain the same:

  • $10,000 Bilingual teaching certification (with 2-year commitment)
  • $500 bus driver
