Rigsby Earns 4th in State Congressional Debate

In January, GHS senior Matilin Rigsby participated in the UIL Congressional Debate State Tournament in Austin. Known in rounds as Representative Rigsby, Matilin represented GHS, UIL District 9, and ESC Region 11 with tremendous Leopard Pride.  Rigsby advanced to the second day of session and ended the final session of Super Congress earning fourth place in the State.  Approximately 300 students advanced from the District to the State level across all classifications (1A to 6A).

Advancing to Day 2 of the tournament makes Rigsby eligible for TILF, the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation, scholarships. These scholarships are only available to state qualifiers in UIL Academics, Speech, Debate and Music. More information on TILF scholarships can be found here: https://www.tilfoundation.org/.

Congressional Debate at GHS is coached by Morgan Sims.
