FCCLA Advances 7 to State

The Gainesville High School FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) participated in the Region 2 competition in Waco. All seven members advanced to the FCCLA State Competitive Events Competition.

Shaley Traffanstedt completed a National Program in Action project that focused on heart disease.

Lizbeth Perez, Solona Price, and Ariana Yarbrough completed a Sports Nutrition project that featured a soccer athlete.

Jaidyn Sharpe and CJ Feagins completed an Entrepreneurship project that developed a business plan for a food truck.

Natalie Putnam completed a Career Investigation project that researched the career of a Veterinarian Technician and Technologist.

While in Waco, FCCLA members participated in a walking tour of Baylor University. These GHS students were amazed at the size of the campus and all the events that were happening on a Thursday afternoon. Students visited the library, bookstore, and Penland Dining Hall to observe the food service operation on a large campus. Also, the Human Sciences and Design undergraduate program at Baylor directly focuses on 6 different majors within the family and consumer science area. After touring the campus, we visited the bear den and then took a driving tour of the athletic facilities. GREAT JOB, MS. YOUNG!
