Tax-Free Weekend is August 8 - 10, 2025.  Save money on tax-free purchases of most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100) during the annual Sales Tax Holiday. See available tax - free items.

Head Start supplies are provided by the program.
High school does not issue supply lists. Supplies will be listed on each high school course's syllabus. 

All new and returning students are required to register online through the Ascender Parent Portal.  For more information, including Head Start and Pre-K eligibility, and the out-of-district transfer application, please visit the student registration page. 

Meet the Teacher - Monday, August 4
All of our students and families are invited to come and meet their new teachers!  Please bring school supplies when you come so our teachers can get them organized and prepare for the first day of school.

Chalmers - 5:30 - 6:30pm
Gainesville Intermediate - 6:30 - 7:30pm
Gainesville Junior High - 4:00 - 6:00pm
Gainesville High School - 5:30 - 7:00pm

7th Grade Leap Camp - Wednesday, July 30
LEAP camp is for all incoming 7th grade students.  Our student ambassadors and Student Council will show the students around the campus and share all that GJH has to offer!  Students can be dropped off at 5pm at the auditorium and picked up at 7pm at the auditorium.  Parents, this one is just for the kids!  You are welcome to join your student for Meet the Teacher on August 4.

9th Grade Fish Camp - Date TBD
Welcome to Gainesville High School! Our GHS Student Council has a fun event prepared to welcome our incoming freshman.  

Transportation Requests will be required for all students that will need to ride the bus during the school year.  This year there will be a deadline to submit your transportation requests.  The deadline to submit requests will be July 30, 2024.   Any students sending in requests after July 30, 2024 will not be allowed on a bus until August 13, 2025. 

Please be sure to send in your bus requests before the deadline. There will be absolutely no exceptions.  You can enter your requests at any time up until the deadline.

Gainesville ISD will continue to provide free meals for all students for the 2025-2026 school year.  GISD qualified for the Communication Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, which will allow GISD to provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge. For more information, visit the Child Nutrition page.
