Tax-Free Weekend is August 7- 9, 2026.  Save money on tax-free purchases of most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100) during the annual Sales Tax Holiday. See available tax - free items.

Head Start supplies are provided by the program.
High school does not issue supply lists. Supplies will be listed on each high school course's syllabus.

Transportation Requests will be required for all students that will need to ride the bus during the school year.  This year there will be a deadline to submit your transportation requests.  The deadline to submit requests is August 2.  Any requests sent after that will not go into effect until August 17.

Gainesville ISD will continue to provide free meals for all students for the 2026-2027 school year.  GISD qualified for the Communication Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, which will allow GISD to provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge. For more information, visit the Child Nutrition page.

Texas House Bill 1481, passed during the 89th Legislative Session, requires all public school districts to implement policies restricting student use of personal communication devices during the school day. This includes devices like cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and gaming devices.  The primary purpose of the bill is to minimize distractions and create a more conducive learning environment for students.
