As a reminder, all new and returning students must complete registration online. For returning students, names, addresses and other personal information will be filled in automatically, decreasing the time required to complete these required forms. If you have any changes to phone numbers or addresses, please make those updates as you are registering for the new year. It is imperative that we have correct contact information for each student.

If you have any questions regarding registration or parent portal, please contact the campus secretary. They will be available to help beginning July 15.

House bill 1481 no cell phones

📱 New Cell Phone Law 📱

Texas House Bill 1481, a new state law, will take effect during the 2025–2026 school year and will directly impact student cell phone and other communication device use in schools.

💡 We are in the process of developing a policy. Parents-you will receive a text & email with a quick survey, which will help guide district leaders in developing the specifics of our local policy.

Here’s what the new law says:

🚫 Students may not use cell phones or personal devices such as smart watches, tablets, etc. inside school buildings during instructional hours.

🟠 Schools must adopt and enforce policies to comply.

How You Can Help:

💬Begin talking with your child now about this upcoming change. Your support will help us create a more focused and productive learning environment for all students.

GISD is working to ensure our response is thoughtful, student-centered, and aligned with the law. We’ll share more information and resources with families as soon as they are available.

Thank you for your continued support!
