  • Marriage of "Q" and "U"

    The Kindergarten students at Edison Elementary were invited the annual ceremony of the marriage of letters Q and U. To add to the excitement, students were invited to attend dressed as a beautiful queen or a handsome quarterback. This year's bride and groom were Edison teachers Ryan Firth and Kayla Mellinger, who will be celebrating their own marriage in July.

  • Stop, Drop, and READ!

    John Franklin and Bentley West were the winners for our Stop, Drop, and Read contest put on by firefighters. They ate breakfast at fire house and were chauffeured to school on fire engine earlier this week. Way to go Bentley and John!

  • Edison Hauls in Donations for VISTO

    Thank you to all of the students and families who donated to the annual VISTO food drive before Thanksgiving. On Friday, the fireman had to call for backup to haul all of the donated items from Edison because we collected a total of 2,491 items! Click to read more....

  • Celebrating Hispanic Heritage

    Families, students, teachers, and the community came together to celebrate Hispanic heritage. There was dancing, tostadas, a salsa making competition, tostadas, nachos, and the PTO provided a fun maraca-making activity for the young students.

  • CC Library Teaches STEAM Lessons

    Thank you to the Cooke County Library for coming to our campus Friday and teaching an interactive STEAM science, technology, engineering, and art, and math) lesson to our first grade GT students. The students learned about leaves and fruits of a tree, read an interactive book about an apple tree, colored the veins of a leaf, and investigated the inside of a horse apple

  • Survey for Potential Pre-K Expansion

    Gainesville ISD is currently surveying the community to assess the interest in a tuition-based Pre-Kindergarten program for the 2017-2018 school year. Students must be 4 years old by September 1, 2017 to be eligible The tuition-based program would extend the current Pre-K program to include those who currently would not qualify for the free Pre-K according to the federal guidelines.   • GISD Launches Two-Way Dual Language Academy

    Be a part of something great! Do you want your child to be fluent in two languages? GISD is implementing a Dual Language Two-Way program beginning the 2017-2018 school year for Pre-K, K, and 1st grade students.
