  • UIL Concert Band

    The Gainesville High School concert band competed at the UIL Concert and Sightreading contest at Argyle High School on Thursday, April 13. The band earned a 2-2-2 on stage and a 1-1-1 in sightreading.

  • Regional UIL Medalists

    Jenny Liu won 1st place in Spelling and Vocabulary, which qualifies her for State! Trevor Hall won 2nd place in Calculator Applications, which qualifies him for State! The Calculator Applications team of Trevor Hall, Alfredo Moreno, Radhika Bhakta, and Dillon Edington placed 2nd.     The GHS One Act Play “The Kentucky Cycle: Fire in the Hole”, wrapped up an outstanding season at the Area round performance at Denison High School on Saturday, April 1.All Star Cast: Landry Dosher All Star Tech: Andrew Carroll Honorable Mention: Taevion Gilmore and Trevor Hall Dates and times for a public viewing of the play will be announced in the coming weeks.

  • Fishing Team Advances to 8 Teams to Regionals

    The GHS bass fishing team placed 4th overall at the Lake Whitney tournament! The Regional Championship will take place Saturday, April 22 at Lake Palestine where the eight teams, listed to the right, will have an opportunity to continue its historic inaugural season. Click for more details...

  • Girls State Powerlifting

    Congratulations to Jazmin Tejeda and Tori Scott for their strong finishes at the state powerlifting meet. Jazmin had her personal best squat at 275 pounds and finished strong. Tori finished 6th in state at her third straight state meet. As a whole the girls team had an outstanding year and we look forward to a great year next year! Tori will be graduating and Jazmin is a first year powerlifter as a sophomore.

  • CX Debate Medals at State

    Gainesville High School advanced two teams to the State CX Debate meet, which was held March 16-18 in Austin. Our two teams competed extremely well in the first four preliminary rounds with each team finishing with a 3-1 record (win-loss) and high individual speaker points. Seniors Jenny Liu and Radhika Bhakta were one of the top 16 teams (out of 56) advancing to the final round and earning a State medal.

  • 1st Place Fishing Team

    The GHS Bass Fishing team finishes FIRST at the Texoma Tournament on Feb. 11. The team competed against more than 250 fisherman from 50 West Division schools. Read more...

  • Choir Qualifies 18 for State

    On Saturday, February 4, 33 GHS Choir Students traveled to Sanger for UIL Solo and Ensemble contest. The students did and excellent job preparing some very difficult classical pieces for our judges. Of the 33 students 23 achieved a 1st division rating (The very best rating) and of those 23 students 18 performed a class 1 solo (the most difficult) and qualified for state.

  • GHS Senior Receives Full Scholarship to Tufts

    GISD is proud to announce that Alfredo Moreno, Jenny Liu, and Trevor Hall were name finalists in the QuestBridge National College Match program, and Alfredo Moreno was selected as a full scholarship recipient to Tufts University.
