  • UIL Academics-2nd in District!

    GHS wins 2nd place overall in 4A District 9 based on our performance in CX Debate, One Act Play, and these Academic Events!! The GHS Journalism team receives 1st place team award!! The GHS Speech team receives 1st place team awards!! The next contest date is the 4A Regional Meet held at Texas A&M Commerce April 13-14 and will contain all advancing individuals and teams from each contest in Region 2 of 4A - Districts 9-16.

  • Debate Competes all the way to State

    Previously placing first in District, the Senior CX debate team of Dalton Chancellor/Mark Chavez advanced to day two of the competition (quarterfinals) on a 3-0 decision by the judges, followed by a 2-1 judge decision which did not advance the team to semifinals. The quarterfinal finish placed the team in the top 8 in State, which is a new record for Gainesville High School CX debate. The Junior team of Dillon Edington/Matilin Rigsby also competed at State after a second place District finish. Team Edington/Rigsby went 3 and 1 on day one of the competition, but lost on speaker points to break a tie which determined advancement to quarterfinals.

  • One Act Play Wins District!

    On Saturday March 3rd, GHS competed in the District 9 One Act Play Contest with Maelstrom by Don Nigro, taking 1st place and advancing to the next level of competition! GHS received the following awards: Andrew Carroll, All Star Tech Crew Hunter Stephens, Honorable Mention Cast Niaomi Dawson, All Star Cast Landry Dosher, All Star Cast Jake Conner, All Star Cast

  • Band Soloists and Ensembles Advance to State!

    GHS band students competed at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in Sanger on Saturday, February 3. An incredible amount of students competed in both the solo and ensemble categories. Out of the 20 soloists, nine students earned Class One Division I ratings and four of those earned advancement to State. An additional eight students earned Class Two Division I ratings for their solo performances. GHS also had five ensembles compete with a total of 17 students.   • GHS Advances TWO Debate Teams to State!

    GHS continues the UIL Speech and Debate season with not one but two State Qualifying CX Debate Teams. GHS seniors Dalton Chancellor and Mark Chavez placed 1st at the district tournament and will advance to the UIL 4A Classification CX Debate State Meet. GHS juniors Dillon Edington and Matilin Rigsby will also join Chancellor/Chavez at the state meet, as they placed 2nd at the district meet.
