    Greetings LEOPARD NATION!!!!!

WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!!  Words cannot explain how excited and ready I am to kick off the new school year.  I hope that everyone took time to rest, relax and recharge in preparation for the 2021-2022 school year.  Last year we faced one of the biggest challenges to public education that I have ever experienced in my short educational career.  Present was elevated levels of anxiety, a sense of not knowing what to expect, and of course, the concern of how we going to keep everyone safe. Vince Lombardi, legendary ex-coach of the Green Bay Packers, said "Individual commitment to a group effort--that is what makes a teamwork, a company work, a society work, a civilization work".  Because of the efforts of our faculty, staff, students and community we were able to provide our students with a conducive and safe learning environment despite the obstacles we had to overcome as a result of COVID-19.

This year we will begin the slow transition to some sort of “normalcy” while continuing to evaluate the state of the pandemic.  Volunteers will be welcomed back on our campuses and we will begin to host more family friendly events that allow for parents, guardians and other loved ones to be engaged in their child’s educational experience.  Benjamin Franklin once said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”.  I look forward to continuing the great partnership with our GISD community as we press forward in providing our kids with innovative opportunities that will prepare them for a promising future.

This year we will be rolling out our new GISD Vision 2026 Strategic Plan.  The strategic planning process included soliciting input from GISD faculty, staff, students and community members, all of whom serve as the pillars of this plan which will be used to support our district for years to come.  We will continuously monitor the progress made towards achieving the goals set forth in the document, while continuing the work of increasing student achievement, increasing parental/community involvement in our schools, and providing innovative learning experiences for all.

In just a few short weeks we will welcome over 3000 GISD students who are ready to learn and prepare themselves for a promising future.  Let’s work TOGETHER to make this year a huge success.  #GISDStrong #WEareGISD!
