    Gainesville ISD will provide free grab-and-go meals for children through June 30th, 2020, Monday-Thursday only, beginning June 1, 2020. Any Child 18 and under has the option to receive 4 meals daily (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack). No student ID required if child is present. Children do not have to be students at the campus to receive free meals or enrolled in GISD schools. Families will not be allowed to congregate or come inside the buildings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

    No Child Present Meal Pickup Flexibility - Parents, please be prepared to present one of the following (with no identification Child Nutrition Staff will have to look up each child and document). 

    • Official letter/email from school listing children enrolled
    • Individual student report card
    • Attendance record from parent portal of school website
    • Birth certificate for children
    • Student ID cards

    Expiration Dates:

    • Sandwiches should be consumed within 3 days of delivery.
    • All other items should be refrigerated and served within 7 days or discarded.

     Meal Patterns:

    • All breakfast meals include one entrée, one fruit or juice, and a milk.
    • All lunch and dinner meals include one entrée, one fruit, one vegetable and a milk.
    • Snack items are typically a grain or meat/meat alternate and fruit.

    Heating Instructions:  Corndogs, Chicken Patties, Popcorn Chicken, Chicken Nuggets, Pizza, and Other Entrée items that require heating (serving size: 1 entrée)

    • Preheat oven or toaster oven to 400 F.
    • Remove entrée from packaging.
    • Line cookie sheet with foil or spray with nonstick spray.
    • Place entree on cookie sheet.
    • Bake until internal temperature reaches 160 F, or approximately 5-10 minutes.

    Nutrition Policy

    The department follows Food Base Menu Planning. All meals must meet the Recommended Daily Allowance established by the USDA and the Texas Department of Agriculture. We research and evaluate every recipe in our menu to ensure they meet nutrition requirements measured by the following categories: Saturated Fat, Total Fat, Calories and Sodium. For further details on the Texas Public School Nutrition Policy please refer to the full policy at
