    The September show spotlighted the GHS Band program with the Director of Fine Arts, Russ Rutherford, Drum Major Mason Lorne, and Assistant Drum Major Melody Rutherford. Dr. Stewart also publicly invited any interested stakeholders to our first Parent Advisory Committee meeting on September 30th at 5:30pm.

    The feature for the December KGAF show was the GHS Band program.  Special guests were Director of Fine Arts and Bands, Russ Rutherford, Drum Major, Mason Lorne and Redcoat Band President, Deserae Pouncil.  They spoke about the success and growth of the band program this year as well as the launch of the GMEP (Gainesville Music Enrichment Program). Dr. Stewart publicly thanked various comminity organizations and businesses for financial donations that benefit our students and invited parents to the Parent Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday.

    Featured on the November show was the GHS theater department and the Fall production of FAME, the Musical.  Listen to Niaomi Dawson (Serena), Andrew Carroll (Nick), and Landry Dosher (Ms. Bell) talk about the excitement of this production and how it relates to the actors today.  Niaomi sings part of her solo live on the show!  Also, hear an update on the Band Area contest, the VISTO food drive coming up, and hear how parents and community members can share their voice and be a part of the 2018-19 parent advisory committee.

    Dr. Stewart brought a special guest, Mattie Sherwin, to the October community service report.  Mattie is a Senior at GHS and it was recently announced that as a result of her PSAT scores, Mattie has been named Commended for a National Merit Scholarship.  Dillon Edington, also a GHS Senior, has been named a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist.  Approximatly 1% of students (16,000 total nationwide) who take the PSAT are named Semi-Finalist and approximately 34,000 nationwide are recognized as commended.
